I offer this opinionated observation: I believe that the German composer Johann Pachelbel (1653-1706) may very well have been the most intelligent musical artist that ever existed. His music appears to have come from the mind of someone with not only incredible musical talent but massive intellect as well. When I listen to his Canon in D, my world stops. I am transfixed. He was genius.
